Answers to the Five Questions of 2015

Almost exactly one year ago today I asked five questions that I thought 2015 would answer. It can be found here. These are the answers to these questions:

1.) Will ISIS live on?
ISIS has continued to have a significant presence in both Syria and Iraq; over the best year they used terrorists in Egypt to bomb a plane which lead to the deaths of about two hundred civilians and then they committed a mass shooting in France just weeks latter. Even as the Iraqi troops retake Ramadi and the Kurdish fighters secure northern Iraq and Syria the war on ISIS will probably go on for at least another six months. Even after ISIS loses it's territory in Syria, Iraq, Egypt's Sinai peninsula and Libya it will still likely pose a threat to countries across the globe.

2.) Will Ebola remain?

Maybe, but the epidemic ended months ago. It's unlikely that the same strain will return with the force it did last year now that west African countries are prepared for it.

3.) Will Nigeria continue to fall?
In terms of suffering from attacks the answer is probably yes. Although America has put troops on the ground to defend Nigeria the country still faces frequent attacks from Boko Haram--which has sworn allegiance to the Islamic State. Over the next year it is possible that Western countries will assist in defeating the terrorist group after the Islamic State loses its territory in Syria and Iraq it is possible that they pay more attention to the terror being caused in the west Africa. However, without more countries intervening to help the region Boko Haram is likely to keep all or most of it's territory.

4.) How much of Ukraine will survive?
All of it but Crimea will probably remain in control of the Ukrainian Government. Eastern Ukraine however remains strongly influenced by Russia and may fall under Russian control sometime in the near future although when President Putin dies or retires (he's now 63) it is unclear how aggressive the modern Russia (which is only 25 years old) will be.

5.) Who will Canada choose?
Who will Canada elect as as Prime Minister? Justin Trudeau, the head of the Liberal Party.
